How We Make

Our mats for yoga and meditation are manufactured using the principles of Ayurvastra which are based on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda.

Natural herbs are infused in the natural organic cotton fibers using ancient dyeing methods and sustainable production techniques to lend their healing and therapeutic properties and colors to these fibers. Through these processes the fabric imbibes the natural healing and nourishing qualities of the herbs and fiber.

The five primordial elements of water, fire. Earth, air and space are invoked during the creation of our products.

Our plant dyes are extracted from the roots, leaves, barks and stems and seeds of plants and herbs.

No harmful chemicals and toxins are used during our entire process. We believe in creating from nature and giving it back to nature. Our zero-waste process uses only all natural ingredients and creates a positive impact on the environment by eliminating pollutants

Our dyes create myriad shades of color in our products while imparting them with their goodness of healing.

All of dye baths are infused with Kashyam, an extraction of our proprietary blend of 22+ fresh and dried Ayurvedic herbs. The selection and ratio of herbs are curated to have a tridoshic quality and are balancing for Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas.

As the Kashyam is added to the natural plant dye bath, it is charged with the invocation of the ancient Vedic hymn, the Gayatri Mantra. Mantras transmit positive energy not just through their meaning but also through their unique vibrations of sound.

Cotton fibers or hand-spun threads are hand-dyed in the charged bath, triple-washed, and air dried in the shade.

Hand weaving the warp and the weft strengthens and binds the healing properties of the medicinal herbs into the cloth.
